I call Indy home. When I teach, it is all about the student. I am only there to guide and hold space. In my classes I will celebrate you showing up for yourself. My teaching style includes a combination of vinyasa, yin, breath work and guided meditation. I believe that to know yoga, is to truly know oneself. Yoga is a central part of my life. I adhere the yamas and niyamas of yogic tradition. I am inspired by the teaching styles of Natalie Perez-Hayden, Charlene Perez, Yeradmi Gomes and Lauren Ash.
In college, I took a yoga class on whim and I fell in love. During my early twenties, I have discovered that maintaining a regular yoga practice leads to physical, mental and professional and spiritual growth. I noticed a lack of yogic practices and principles in my community and that sparked my desire to learn as much as I could about yoga and share it with those around me. Fast forward to today, and I am a trained yoga instructor. Part of my yoga practice includes community outreach through yoga to underserved populations. I aim to share the beauty of yoga with others through practice and creation of community.
I have a Master of Science in Event Tourism, a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Africana Studies from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. I am CPR and AED certified. When I am not teaching or practicing yoga I like to travel, tend to my plants, read and spend time with my family and friends whom I love dearly. I also maintain my own wellness blog, write poetry and host workshops through my independent brand Yari Yoga.
